Osaka Universal Studios Harry Potter Castle

It has been 20 years since the first book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was published. Always wondered how it was like to live as lavishly as the Malfoys or cosy up in a cottage like the Weasleys?

Good news is, you don’t have always have to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to rekindle your love for The Boy Who Lived as there are several HomeAway listings that let you relive this fantasy. Here are seven properties where you can live like your favourite characters in the Harry Potter series:

1. Go into the woods with Rubeus Hagrid’s Hut

Are you a fan of the gentle giant Hagrid? Surrounded by nature and stunning views, this traditional hillside barn that was converted into a cottage that can fit up to four guests. Unlike Hagrid’s hut though, these cottages come equipped with all the modern-day comforts you’ll need for a holiday in the UK such as WiFi, a heating system and a fully functional kitchen.

2. Cosy up in the Weasleys’ Burrow

Love being around your loved ones when you travel? This Barn and Oast Cottage, with 11 bedrooms that can host up to 36 guests, is most suited for large family gatherings. Its spacious neighbouring fields allow for an old-fashioned Quidditch match with the family, or it could even be a wedding venue. Picture Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour’s beautiful wedding at The Burrow.

3. Meet at The Order of The Phoenix

We’re absolutely Sirius about this: there is a historical London Flat that is reminiscent of Black’s Home which is situated in a muggle neighbourhood and is the setting for The Order of The Phoenix. The flat is located on a quiet cobbled street and receives bonus points for being a stone’s throw away from King’s Cross Station where you can also find the famed Platform 9¾.

4. Be a pure blood in the Malfoy Manor

Live luxuriously like The Malfoys in this well-preserved Edwardian Castle, where you can immerse yourself in the world of old money and grandeur. It comes with 2,000 acres of glen walks, forests, three beaches, two lakes, award-winning walled gardens and even two waterfalls to explore. Perhaps the only things missing are white peacocks and Dobby, the house elf.

5. Elope to the Shell Cottage with your lover

Just married and looking to escape to a beautiful haven? This delightful semi-detached stone cottage resembles the Shell Cottage for newly-wed couple Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour. Castell Criws, located in the town of Harlech, is the romantic retreat for couples. This double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom is cosy enough for two, and the cottage is within walking distance from nearby shops, pubs and restaurants.

6. Live like the wealthy Riddles

If you always wanted to live in the family home of the wealthy Riddles, consider the magnificent Westbury Castle, which used to be home to the Mostyns, one of the great families in the history of Wales. Enjoy the stunning architecture in this castle which accommodates up to 34 guests and is fitted with modern-day amenities and appliances. This is also an ideal spot for weddings, birthday celebrations or simply the experience of living in a castle.

7. Be a student at the school of witchcraft and wizardry

If you’ve been waiting for your acceptance letter from Professor McGonagall, look no further than this Victorian mansion, set to make you believe you’re already in Hogwarts. Accommodating up to 28 guests, this castle is perfect for hosting special occasions, even weddings. With its 14 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms, you can definitely conduct your very own Transfiguration or Defence Against The Dark Arts lessons.
