1. Suria KLCC

2. Pavilion KL Shopping Mall
This 1.37 million square ft white marble building was opened in 2007 and is home to more than 450 retailers. Located in the prime Bukit Bintang area, this upscale addition offers a combination of both indoor and outdoor shopping. The front of the mall is usually congested with motorists due to its location on Jalan Bukit Bintang and it is easily recognizable by the installation of the tallest Liuli Crystal fountain in Malaysia. Any coins tossed into the fountain is donated to charity. This mall is definitely designed for shoppers with deeper pockets and a taste for international designer labels and speciality retailers. 3. Starhill Gallery KL
For a shopping and dining experience like no other, you have Starhill Gallery in Bukit Bintang. Imagine walking around on carpeted floors in ambient lighting while the strains of soft jazz fill your ears. Opening its doors in 1996, this 250,000 square ft complex has over 100 renowned luxury brands as well as a 50,000 square ft spa and relaxation centre (the Pamper Zone). For a bite to eat, you can always visit the food court (Feast Village) on the lower ground area where you can sample food from award-winning restaurants. 4. Mid Valley Megamall
This massive complex just outside of Bangsar is a regular haunt for locals from both the city centre and the Klang Valley. Reaching 4.5 million square ft, this powerhouse mall became all the more attractive with the addition of the Gardens Mall in 2007. Both malls are linked via a bridge and underground corridor. Visitors to this sprawling mall are able to satisfy their shopping desires with a nice mix of mid to high-end retailers. 5. Berjaya Times Square
Standing at 7.5 million square ft, it’s easily one of the biggest shopping centres in the Bukit Bintang area and it also enjoys easy access to the KL Imbi Monorail station just outside. With over 1,000 retail stores and 65 eateries available, including a food court (Taste of Asia), this shopping destination offers a wide range of affordable merchandise by both known and unknown brands and retailers. This complex also houses Malaysia’s largest indoor theme park (133,000 square ft), the Berjaya Times Square Theme Park, where you can experience 14 specially-designed rides. The theme park is divided into two main areas: one for adults or kids 13 years old and above and another centred more on children’s rides.

6. Low Yat Plaza Shopping Mall
Locals refer to this mall as LYP or Low Yat and there’s even a popular forum online with the same name. It’s located directly opposite Berjaya Times Square and most visitors to this mall are looking to score or bargain for electronic and IT related products. Here, you’ll find a wide selection of stores (both small and large) and the great thing about shopping here is the opportunity to negotiate for what you want. 7. Sungei Wang Plaza
Older malls tend to lose their crowd as time goes by, but this seven-storey complex that opened in 1977 has managed to survive. It’s a well-known shopping destination for cheap retail therapy and it also happens to be a convenient pit stop in the city’s Golden Triangle area. This 1.2 million square ft complex houses a large variety of kiosks and small shops that offer merchandise ranging from handphones and computer accessories to clothing and women’s costume jewellery. If you’re interested in getting some tattoo work done, you’ll be glad to know that this building is also home to Star Tattoo Studio, one of Kuala Lumpur’s most famous tattoo parlours.

8. Sunway Velocity Mall
With its official opening in 2016, this seven-storey mall covering 1 million square ft is a newer addition to the Cheras area that features an eye-catching neo-futuristic exterior as well as a covered walkway to two MRT stations (Cochrane and Maluri). In this complex, you’ll find a wide variety of local and international brands, a cinema and a fitness centre. There are also plenty of eateries and food kiosks scattered around the mall at the basement and top levels. Main anchors include Parkson, Toys “R” Us, Popular Bookstore, Uniqlo and many more.

9. MyTOWN Shopping Centre
Helmed by the same management that brought us the Ikano Power Centre in Klang Valley, this brand new addition housing over 400 local and international retailers officially launched in 2016. It also includes an IKEA outlet within its premises. Other than known anchor tenants such as H&M, Parkson and Village Grocer, the mall is also home to the largest Zara outlet in Malaysia. Outside the mall, you’ll find a landscaped park that’s designed with ramps and tracks for rollerblading and skateboarding.
