We understand how much you might be in need of a getaway, considering how we’re almost one month into 2018 without a day off. Well here’s some good news – we’ve saved you the trouble and put together a list of long weekends you’ll be enjoying this year.
For starters, here’s a list of all the official national public holidays in 2018:
- Chinese New Year, 16 February - 17 February
- Labour Day, 1 May 2018
- Vesak Day, 29 May 2018
- Hari Raya Aidilfitri, 15 June - 16 June
- Hari Raya Haji, 22 August
- Merdeka Day, 31 August
- Yang Di-Pertuan Agong’s Birthday, 9 September
- Awal Muharram, 11 September
- Malaysia Day, 16 September

And… These are the long weekends:
- New Year's Day, 30 December - 1 January (Saturday to Monday)

A total of 4 long weekends throughout the year seems pretty dismal, we’re not going to lie – but don’t get too upset! There’s a way to increase that number, and it only takes 6 days of vacation leave. Yes, just 6 days of vacation leave will grant you another 6 long weekends:
When to take leave:
- 1 Day Leave on 30 April (Monday) = 28 April to 1 May (Saturday to Tuesday)
- 1 Day Leave on 28 May (Monday) = 26 May to 29 May (Saturday to Tuesday)
- 1 Day Leave on 10 September (Monday) = 8 September to 11 September (Saturday to Tuesday)
- 1 Day Leave on 5 November (Monday) = 3 November to 6 November (Saturday to Tuesday)
- 1 Day Leave on 19 November (Monday) = 17 November to 20 November (Saturday to Tuesday)
- 1 Day Leave on 24 December (Monday) = 22 December to 25 December (Saturday to Tuesday)

So after taking that 6 days of leave, these are the 10 long weekends you can get in 2018:
