1. They approach you and ask “Indonesian? Malaysian?”

2. When you say “I’m from the Philippines!”, they repeat
“Ahhh, Philippine...”

(Where did the “S” go?)
3. “Philippines!”

(Now, that’s better)
4. “You live in Manny Pacquiao’s homeland!”

(Yes, we’re neighbours.)
5. “You can afford to travel. You must be rich.”

6. “I’d like to visit your country. Is it safe in there?”

7. “I heard the beaches are stunning.”

(I couldn’t agree more!)
8. “So what else can I find in the Philippines aside from the beaches?

And just when you are about to answer, someone else butts in...
9. “They also have a lot of mountains!!!”

10. “And islands too!”

11. “With hospitable people...”

12. “Who are fond of singing...”

16. When you tell them you eat developing duck embryos called balut eggs
